Q: What valve can I use on the steam line?
A: The valve and globe valve can be selected basically for the valve temperature of the steam pipe less than 425 °C.
The alloy valve is selected when the flowing medium is above 400 °C.
The gate valve is mainly used for the main steam valve of the steam pipe, that is, the valve that is not normally switched.
The globe valve is mainly used for valves that are close to the equipment of the user. Because this valve has a good regulation effect on the flow rate.
What valves are selected for installation on the steam line are primarily based on temperature, pressure, action and installation location.
Q: So can a butterfly valve be used on the steam pipe?
A: If used in steam pipes, butterfly valves are not recommended. Because the pressure inside the butterfly valve is large, it is difficult to operate by opening and closing it. Opening and closing it can damage the sealing surface on it. Therefore, the butterfly valve cannot be opened and closed frequently. Butterfly valves are not as good as gate valves in this performance.
However, if the pipe pressure is not very high (below 6.4Mpa), a butterfly valve can also be used. However, because of the high temperature, it is recommended to use a metal hard seal butterfly valve. The eccentric butterfly valve of the valve body WCB can be selected. Pay attention to the flow direction during installation and keep the pipe as clean as possible to prevent the welding slag from getting stuck on the sealing surface or it may be difficult to close.
